Pierrette Kengela
TECHNICAL ADVISOR
With over 17 years of extensive technical and managerial expertise in international development and humanitarian sectors, Pierrette has navigated diverse social and health settings, including conflict and post-conflict countries, as well as low and middle-income nations. Having worked in more than forty countries across the globe, she has provided expertise in sustainable transformation of health systems and policies, social justice movements, coalition building, community mobilisation, and the implementation of various advocacy programme.
Her work spans infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (MNCAH), child protection in emergencies (CPiE), gender equality (GBV, multi-context gender analysis, and mainstreaming), feminist peace and positive masculinities, and sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH).
She has demonstrated proficiency in expert recommendations on global grant applications, stakeholder and strategic partnership management, international and regional program management, multi-million-dollar grant management, and institutional contract management. Pierrette has provided essential technical assistance and advisory to over sixty grantees worldwide, fostering mentorship and capacity strengthening to enhance operation and program delivery. She has been at the forefront of building, leading, and supporting multi-country coalitions comprising women and youth-led organizations across Africa and the Middle East. Through these groups, she advocates for women’s rights and Adolescents SRHR.
Pierrette holds two master’s degrees: a Master of Public Health in Tropical Medicine and a Master of Science in Health Management, which she earned summa cum laude. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Public Health, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and several certifications.
Passionate about empowering vulnerable people and promoting equal opportunities for all, Pierrette is not only a seasoned writer but also a certified life coach and public speaker. She is a leading voice for African women‘s empowerment and has received several awards and recognitions for her impactful work, including the “50 Power People Advocating for Women’s Empowerment & Inclusion in Africa” 2024 Award and being recognized as the Repro Empowerment 2024 Women’s Day “Everyday Heroine.” She has also founded and co-founded numerous entrepreneurial initiatives, promoting women and youth leadership and economic empowerment, personally mentoring and coaching several individuals across Africa. Additionally, Pierrette sits on various global advisory and task force groups focused on health equity and women’s empowerment.
