Shout-it-Now Brings HIV Testing to More than Half a Million South Africans!

Cape Town, South Africa (15 March 2016) – This month, Shout-it-Now served its 500,000th client. This half-million milestone comes just five months after the organization tested its 400,000th client. “Our ability to test 20,000 people each month over the past five months is a testament to our recent growth, which is helping a lot more people in Ekurhuleni learn their HIV status,” said Shout-it-Now’s

Since October 2015, Shout-it-Now has built and launched three new HIV testing teams. These three teams have joined Shout-it-Now’s two original teams to significantly expand access to community based HIV testing services throughout the most affected areas of Ekurhuleni. The new teams have brought with them new energy and ideas for reaching those most at risk for HIV infection, including outreach to [insert descriptions of new populations and/or venues we are now serving].

Just recently the entire organization gathered at the Sabari Country Lodge outside of Johannesburg for an Indaba that included training sessions on new HIV testing techniques, team skills building and strategic planning. Ekurhuleni is one of the districts most burdened with HIV/AIDS in all of South Africa. The organization’s goal over the coming year is to saturate the district with HIV testing in order to help achieve the first step in the global 90-90-90 strategy, which is for 90% of HIV positive people to be identified and linked to care.
